Current thinking about performance management is to focus on strengths not weaknesses, and place the individual in roles that best utilize these attributes. While most people have a basic understanding of these attributes, we usually don’t take the time to really identify & describe them, much less consciously place ourselves in circumstances that optimize them.
Realise2 is a strengths/weaknesses assessment and development tool. Managed from the UK, it assesses 60 strengths according to the three dimensions of energy, performance and use. These three dimensions are then used to identify where your strengths lie across the four categories of realised strengths, unrealised strengths, learned behaviors and weaknesses.
The on-line survey takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately $27. (Bossdepot does not benefit from directing traffic to it.)
The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) has a self-assessment site with several inexpensive assessment tools. I have not tried them, but CCL has a superb reputation for its leadership development resources. If you try any of these tools, please share your experience by commenting.
