Protected Class

The term describes groups of people who are protected from discrimination and harassment through federal or state regulations. The following characteristics are considered ‘Protected Classes’: age, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, genetic information or pregnancy. In some jurisdictions, gender identity is a protected class.
