Forms (Human Resources)

Managing people effectively and with minimal risk requires proper documentation. Labor laws are a main driver of documentation, but HR processes (payroll, benefits, performance management, etc.) all require some degree of processing forms. As a general rule, bosses should try to minimize the amount of paperwork generated by a process, and try to do as much as possible on-line. Information on these forms, especially personal data such as social security numbers, should be closely guarded. Remember that documenting problems, for example performance issues, can be useful at a later date to substantiate an action and minimize liability to the company.
